Picture This: Cambria Quartz Custom Countertop Shapes
Custom Countertop Shapes
One of the biggest ways to make a “Splash”(and we’re not talking about a backsplash here) with your remodel project is by customizing your countertop shape.
Custom shapes can make your kitchen or bathroom a real reflection of your distinct style. Custom shapes are unique, make a bold statement, and add a very personal touch.
There is often an additional cost for such a design, but through curves and angles, your project is guaranteed to deliver that WOW factor! The styles pictured within this post make an impact and leave a lasting impression.
Cambria Quartz, Wilsonart®HD® Laminate, and Meganite Solid Surface can all be customized to maximize the wow factor with curves, slopes, narrow, wide, and custom angles.
Wilsonart HD GREENGUARD Certified
Wilsonart HD High Definition Laminate has not only received GREENGUARD® Certification for Indoor Air Quality and Children & Schools, but it is also composed of a minimum 20% post-consumer recycled content (that’s all those cardboard boxes we recycle). While we don’t have a solution for recycling a laminate countertop today, we’re working on it. Meanwhile, you can count on your Wilsonart HD countertop to keep its good looks and high performance for years to come.
Live Green, Live Life, Live Cambria
Cambria is committed to environmental responsibility in its product offerings and business practices.
Cambria Natural Quartz Surfaces™ have a lower “carbon footprint” compared with other quartz products. Cambria is
made from quartz primarily mined in North America. Cambria is the only quartz product made in the United States. It is produced and shipped from Minnesota to North American partners, then to the end user. Other quartz products, primarily manufactured in the Middle East, Asia and Europe, require greater shipping and transportation resources than Cambria.
Cambria GREENGUARD Certification – Why it Matters -GREENGUARD certification offers consumers the independent assurance that Cambria has no impact on indoor quality.
GREENGUARD: Indoor Air Quality -Cambria is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) under the GREENGUARD Standard for Low Emitting Products. This accreditation means that Cambria meets the GEI’s indoor air standards for low chemical and particle emissions and may help projects achieve LEED points towards certification in the Indoor Environmental Quality category and/or the Materials and Resources category of various LEED Green Building Rating Systems. Click here to download the Cambria Green Brochure.
National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) -For more than 60 years, NSF International has helped protect consumers by certifying products and writing standards for food, water, air and consumer goods. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, NSF’s ongoing public health commitment is to encourage everyone to live safer. Cambria meets NSF 51 Food Zone Compliance, its nonporous surface resists staining and prevents absorption of moisture and food materials which can harbor harmful bacteria. Cambria doesn’t require sealing or maintenance to project its surface; it is naturally safe for your food preparation areas.
No chemical cleaners or sealers required -Cambria, unlike granite, is virtually worry-free and exceptionally easy to maintain. Cambria is twice as strong as granite. Granite is porous and subject to staining if not maintained with sealers, conditioners, cleaners, and wax. Just wash Cambria with warm water. It’s that simple.
Cambria is radon free and does not emit radiation into the air -Cambria surfaces have been tested for radon and radiation emissions. The test confirms that Cambria Natural Quartz Surfaces™ have no emissions.

- Your kitchen cabinets have lost their color and luster.
- Your kitchen appliances aren’t working like they should.
- Water damage.
- Your countertops are scratched or damaged beyond easy repair or annual maintenance (in the case of granite and some stone products).
- You don’t feel like eating in your kitchen.
- You’ve stopped entertaining friends and family because of your kitchen.
- Your kitchen just doesn’t work for you anymore — for example, the layout isn’t right for you or your growing family.
- The kitchen looks dated due to the colors or patterns selected years ago.
- You purchased a “fixer upper”.
- Little things are starting to go wrong.
Cambria Quartz Countertops: Cleaning & Maintenance
This will be a short post, because quartz is virtually immune to damage and very easy to clean.
To clean, just wipe it with warm water. It’s almost maintenance free!
There is very little maintenance required with quartz surfaces. The superior hardness of quartz makes this countertop a good choice because it is not porous like granite. With today’s busy lifestyles, quartz is becoming a popular choice for many homeowners. It is resistant to stains like coffee, wine, vinegar, lemon juice and other common stain-producing products. Because of this nonporous surface, these counters don’t have to be sealed in order to keep their shine. Another benefit is that quartz countertops are very difficult to scorch. However, the use of trivets and hot pads is recommended.
MEGANITE Countertops: Cleaning & Maintenance
MEGANITE has physical properties that prevent food, dirt, bacteria, and germs from penetrating its surface. Routine cleaning using soap, water, or window cleaner will remote most dirt and stains. To disinfect, occassionally wipe the surface with equal parts of household bleach and water. Always towel dry to remote water spots. Meganite does offer warranties.
Special Care
- For matte or satin finish countertops, rub the stain with a cleanser like Ajax or Comet and a Scotch-Brite pad with water. Always rub in a circular motion, then rinse and towel dry. Occassionally, rub the entire surface with a Scotch-Brite pad to maintain the matte or satin finish.
- For a semi-gloss finish, us a non-abrasive cleanser with bleach or diluted bleach and rub in a circular motion with a white Scotch-Brite pad. Dry with a towel and use a non-abrasive polish compound to enhance the surface.
- For a high-gloss finish, use a sponge and apply a non-abrasive polish compound. Extremely difficult stains may require hand sanding with 600-grit sandpaper, followed by polishing with a white polish compound using a soft cloth.
- For MEGANITE sinks and bowls, use a scouring cleanser with a Scotch-Brite pad and water. Occassionally, fill the sink or bowl with a solution of equal parts household bleach and water. Let stand for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse sides and bottom with water after draining.
Preventive Care
- MEGANITE should be protected from hot pans directly from the stove or oven by the use of hot pads or trivets equipped with rubber-tipped feet.
- Always place a flame-resistant hot pad or trivet underneath a heat-generating appliance such as a crock-pot or electric frying pan.
- Some strong chemicals can cause damage to your MEGANITE surface if left in contact for a long time. Paint removers, oven cleaners, contact adhesive solvent, rust removers, or lacquer thinners should be flushed with soapy water as quickly as possible, rinsed with clean water and dried with a towel. If you spill nail polish, remove it with a NON-acetone based nail polish remover and soapy water.
- When pouring boiling water into MEGANITE sinks, run cold water at the same time. Allow hot grease to cool slightly before pouring it into the sink or garbage disposal.
- Never cut food directly on a MEGANITE surface. Always use a cutting board.
Removal of Cuts & Scratches
MEGANITE is easily repaired. Most cuts and scratches can be removed without hiring a professional.
- For a matte or satin finish, hand sand the cut or scratch with a 220-grit sanding disc, sanding in a circular motion. When the cut or scratch is removed, hand sand the area with a 320 or 400-grit sanding disc in a circular motion. Finally, rub the area with a Scotch-Brite pad.
- For a semi-gloss finish, sand the cut or scratch as you would for a matte finish. Follow-up with a white rubbing compound applied with a soft cloth and then rub with a white Scotch-Brite pad.
- For a high-gloss finish, sand the cut with a 220-grit sanding disc until eliminated. Follow with a 320 or 400-grit sanding disc and then a 600-grit sanding disc, all in a circular motion. Buff with a white polishing compound and a low-speed polisher equipped with a wool pad. Apply a non-abrasive countertop polish. You can find this polish at most home stores.
